To load and run Brightline for the first time:
  1. If you are running Brightline II for the first time and do not have the Java Runtime Engine (JRE) version 1.3 installed, you must download and install this software from Sun's Web site. Once the JRE has been successfully installed you will not have to repeat this step again for this machine.
  2. Click here to execute the "blineii.jar" file.  When prompted by Windows to either "Open this file from its current location" or to "Save this file to disk," select the former and then choose 'OK'. The Brightline II simulation will now begin.

Notes: Brightline II will create a file named brightline.dat on your Windows desktop which contains your preferred Brightline II properties and the location of your parameter file.  You should not delete this file to save your Brightline II run-time preferences.

The Java Runtime Engine 1.3 is not available for Mac OS 9.x or earlier. Java 1.3 works fine in Mac OS X 10.1.x and higher, and is in fact embedded in Mac OS X 10.1.x and higher, thus Mac OS X 10.1.x users will not need to download it. Older Mac users may still run the original version of Brightline.
