Brightline was conceived and initiated by Robert A.G. Monks and Ric Marshall. The original version of Brightline, including the basic simulation and modeling functions, was written by Manor Askenazi, a former member of the Swarm development team at the Santa Fe Institute. Mr. Marshall continues to supervise further development and testing of the program.

An initial version of Brightline II was written by Craig Doremus, then with New England Internet Services, in Portland, Maine.

The final and current versions of Brightline II were written by Keith Marshall, with Progressive Logic, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Extensive testing and statistical analysis of the user variable sets and methodologies used in the current version of Brightline were provided by Mark Miller, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
